Actions
Actions are the tasks MailHarbor performs automatically when a rule matches. Each action is independent — one rule can trigger multiple actions simultaneously. Configure integration-required actions once; they then become available in the rule wizard.
Ready to use
These actions work out of the box with no configuration required.
Send a push alert to your device when a rule fires.
Silence push alerts for matched messages — useful for low-priority senders.
Star / flag the message so it stands out in your inbox.
Automatically move matched messages out of your inbox to archive.
Move matched messages to trash automatically.
Elevate the message importance so it surfaces in the Important view.
Lower the message importance — keeps your Important view noise-free.
Automatically mark matched messages as read.
Attach a custom label (tag) to the message. You configure the label name per rule.
Requires setup
These actions become available in the rule wizard after you complete the one-time configuration in the MailHarbor mobile app under the Actions tab.
Text a summary of the matched message to your phone number. Great for truly urgent alerts.
How to enable: Add your E.164 phone number in the MailHarbor mobile app under Actions → Send SMS.
HTTP POST the matched message data as JSON to any endpoint — Zapier, Slack, your own API, etc.
How to enable: Configure your default webhook URL in the mobile app under Actions → Send Webhook. You can override the URL per rule.
Forward the matched message to another email address, with optional AI-generated commentary added.
How to enable: Set your default forward-to address in the mobile app under Actions → Forward Message. You can override the destination per rule.
Attaching actions to rules
Actions are attached when you build or edit a rule using the step-by-step wizard in the mobile app. A single rule can trigger any combination of actions — for example, starring a message and sending an SMS for truly important senders. Setup-required actions only appear as options once you have configured them.
